½ cup butter, melted
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup hot water
1 Tbsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
½ tsp nutmeg
Dash of cloves, optional
1 Tbsp real maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter 9x13 baking dish.
- Arrange sliced yams in prepared casserole dish.
- Mix together melted butter, brown sugar, heavy cream and hot water, blend well.
- Add cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, cloves if using, maple syrup and vanilla extract, blend well.
- Spoon over yams.
- Cover and bake 40 minutes.
- Uncover, stir yams so all is well coated. Bake an additional 20 to 25 minute or until cooked thru.
- Serve right away and spoon syrup over each serving.
