Southern Pecan Pie
- 1 unbaked pie crust
- 1 Tbsp powdered sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar, packed firm
- 1/2 cup butter, melted, cooled to room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 2 Tbsp all purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp milk
- 1 1/2 tsp bourbon or vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
- Form pie crust into 10 inch cast iron skillet; sprinkle pie crust with powdered sugar.
- Whip eggs in large bowl until foamy with wire whisk; whisk in brown sugar, butter, granulated sugar, chopped pecans, flour, milk and bourbon or vanilla.
- Pour mixture into pie crust; top with pecan halves.
- Bake 30 minutes. Reduce oven to 300 degrees F; bake 30 additional minutes.
- Turn oven off; leave pie in oven 3 hours.
- Do Not Open Oven Door.
