Southern Pecan Pie

  • 1 unbaked pie crust
  • 1 Tbsp powdered sugar 
  • 4 large eggs 
  • 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar, packed firm 
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted, cooled to room temperature 
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar 
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans 
  • 2 Tbsp all purpose flour 
  • 2 Tbsp milk 
  • 1 1/2 tsp bourbon or vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves 
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. 
  2. Form pie crust into 10 inch cast iron skillet; sprinkle pie crust with powdered sugar. 
  3. Whip eggs in large bowl until foamy with wire whisk; whisk in brown sugar, butter, granulated sugar, chopped pecans, flour, milk and bourbon or vanilla. 
  4. Pour mixture into pie crust; top with pecan halves. 
  5. Bake 30 minutes. Reduce oven to 300 degrees F; bake 30 additional minutes. 
  6. Turn oven off; leave pie in oven 3 hours. 
  7. Do Not Open Oven Door.
